A little info about the Buntyn family
Our surname has been spelled Buntain, Bunten, Buntin, Buntine, Bunting, Bunton, Buntyn, and Buntyne in various records.
The most consistent spelling for the descendants of Geraldus/John/Joseph Buntyn is BUNTYN.
According to The Clan Graham, Bontein, Bontine, Buntain, and Bunting are all sept names to the Clan Graham.
There are large numbers of Bunten, Buntin, Bunting and Bunton families in the United States.
There are fewer than 500 BUNTYN telephone listings in the United States. The majority of Buntyns live in the South: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas. There are a few scattered around the rest of the country. I believe that all of us are related in some way or another.
According to the 1990 US census, the name BUNTYN ranks 58,208th in terms of frequency of use in the United States.
